Calcutta Management Association

Calcutta Management Association (CMA) was instituted in 1957 following the recommendations of a committee constituted by the All India Council of Technical Education. This committee advocated setting up of Regional Management Association in major cities of India. CMA was formed as the first institution of its kind in the country, under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Education. CMA was the prime force behind the formation of the All India Management Association (AIMA), the apex body for management education in India.

Management Development Menu

The Association organises management development programmes with the objectives of providing practicing managers useful insights into various facets of modern management concepts, tools and techniques.

The programmes of CMA have been acknowledged as being of immense utility. Such programmes are conducted by an expert faculty drawn from the senior management cadres of progressive business houses, prominent leaders in public life and reputed academics from India and abroad.

CMA Management Excellence Awards

True to its tradition of fostering and encouraging excellence, CMA introduced these Awards from 2014 wherein outstanding contribution made by management professionals are recognized and awarded. Awards are presented in the following six categories: Business Leadership, Corporate Leadership, Emerging Leader, Innovation Excellence, Public Service and Lifetime Achievement. In addition, CMA has also instituted a special award, by creating what has been christened as the “Management Hall of Fame” wherein a management professional of outstanding repute and visionary leadership is inducted.

Calcutta Management Summit & Sir Jehangir Ghandy Memorial Lecture

Commencing 2000, CMA introduced the annual oration in honour of its founder President, Sir Jehangir Ghandy. From the year 2011, the event was dovetailed with the Calcutta Management Summit, which has now become one of the most keenly awaited management conferences in the city.

Leadership Lecture Series

A monthly lecture programme, wherein persons of eminence, thought leaders and opinion makers are invited to address the members and the guests on issues of leadership in general and contemporary management thoughts in particular. 

CMA Quiz

CMA’s hugely popular quiz programme provides practicing managers and students a unique opportunity to assess and review their level of knowledge and awareness about management-related topics and issues in general.
